TIMEWAVE / FIELD GUIDE
Using a Japanese Radio-Controlled Watch Overseas
Understand JJY support, regional reception, and time-zone settings when using a Japan-market watch abroad.
Start with the exact model
Some Japan-market watches receive JJY. Away from Japan, ordinary reception may be difficult, and support for other regional signals depends on the exact model.
Check compatibility and settings
JJY has 40 kHz and 60 kHz transmissions. Check the watch manual to learn which services the model supports.
Try a careful reception attempt
Confirm the exact model, supported signal, home-city setting, and time zone. Use the manufacturer’s manual reception procedure first when conditions allow.
Using TimeWave as an aid
If the watch supports a signal mode offered in the current TimeWave app, an audio-based attempt may be possible. It is not guaranteed.
Keep expectations realistic
Receiving a time code and displaying the correct local time are different things. Check the city and time-zone settings after reception.
